Sanitary drive gives hope to young girls
The Social Ills Eradicate (SIE) organisation recently donated sanitary towels and clothes to young girls in Ga-Mothapo.
POLOKWANE – The event was graced by Kgoshigadi Moremadi Mothapo who welcomed the attendees to the event at Ga-Mothapo village as well as delegates from the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture. Entertainment was provided by gospel sensation, Ngwana Ledwaba.
SIE is a non-profit organisation and its Chairperson, Mpepe Molewa, said the aim of the event was to educate young women on menstruation as well as donate sanitary towels and clothes to those in need to encourage the community to do the same in a plight to keep these young girls in schools.
“We have managed to collect over 1 000 packs of sanitary towels as well as clothes and shoes to donate to the learners from various primary and high schools in Ga-Mothapo.
“It was rewarding to see how the combined efforts of all stakeholders enabled us to achieve such great results and host such a successful campaign. We hope to see more of these initiatives in our communities,” Mpepe said.
She added SIE plans to make such initiatives an annual event, while she encouraged the community to continue donating sanitary towels every month to help the girls in need.
SIE thanked their sponsors, Shoprite, Pwin City (management at Paledi Mall), Turf Royalty, NTK supermarket based in Ga-Mothapo Moshate and the community at large for their support and selfless donations of food, clothes and shoes for the needy learners.
