Two Lim boerewors gurus in top 3 of national competition

The top three finalists in the 2017 Championship Boerewors Competition were announced at the Top 18 Round in Cape Town recently.

LIMPOPO –Ā Two of the finalist, Moses Mathebula and Queen Mathebula, are from Lenyenye and Malamulele (Limpopo) respectively. The third finalist is James Lebepe (from Atteridgeville, Gauteng).

Additional information about Moses:

ā€¢ His love for boerewors comes from working in the meat industry and enjoying a good braai.

ā€¢ He entered the competition because he is confident that he is the best boerewors maker.

ā€¢ He has entered the competition five times, but this is the furthest he has gotten in the competition.

ā€¢ His favourite spice is coriander and he believes that the three golden rules to making the best boerewors is using quality meat with a special blend of spices and ensuring that the end-products is tender, but juicy.

ā€¢ His favourite side dish for boerewors is Chakalaka.

ā€¢ Her love for boerewors comes from its delicious taste and the fact that she enjoys a good braai.

ā€¢ She entered the competition because she wants her boerewors to be sold across South Africa.

ā€¢ She has entered the competition three times, but this is the furthest she has gotten in the competition.

Buy, braai, try and vote for your favourite

The top three recipes will be available in Shoprite and Checkers supermarkets nationwide between Friday, 18 August and Friday, 8 September. Then it will be up to the South African public to buy, braai, try and vote for the recipe they believe deserves to win the coveted 25th Championship Boerewors title.

The winner of the 2017 Championship Boerewors competition will be announced on Wednesday, 13 September and will drive off in a brand-new Toyota Hilux 2.8 GD-6 Double Cab Raised Body Raider. The winning recipe ā€“ #SAsNo1 Championship Boerewors ā€“ will also be for sale in all Shoprite and Checkers stores from Friday, 15 September 2017, just in time for Heritage Day.
