Voortrekker Hospital gets an upgrade
MEC of Heatlh, Dr Phophi Ramathuba did the official opening and handover of the upgraded state of the art out patients department, admin block, pharmacy and casualty at Voortrekker hospital.
MOKOPANE – Ramathuba said: “During the budget 2017/18 speech, we were faithful to our promise and commitment that the upgrading of this hospital will definitely be finished during this financial year. Only four months down the line, we are seeing the fruitful actualisation of the commitment made.
“We are therefore assembled here today to officially handover this state-of-the-art facilities, which are aimed at ensuring continuous dispensation of the best healthcare services.
“It is our duty to ensure continuous maintenance and keep these facilities habitable and user-friendly”.
According to Ramathuba their business is health, and having declared 2017 as a year of healthy living towards a healthy lifestyle for all, the department had not only come to the table but to be constantly present at the table, and play their part.
“This is in no doubt part of our commitment to unashamedly improve the health of our people.”
She stated that it is always a humbling experience, surprisingly characterised by a home-coming feeling, every time Ramathuba was greeted by singing and dancing medical staff and she said it all brought some good memories back to her.
“I am proud of myself for Voortrekker Hospital having immensely contributed to my professional growth, but most importantly having helped me asserted my growth in humanity to the levels worth appreciating.”
After the unveiling Ramathuba proceeded through the hospital and met some of the personnel and patients.
Kitty Hudson, a nurse at Voortrekker Hospital, said it just seemed appropriate that Ramathuba did the unveiling, seeing that she did her Zuma year at Voortrekker Hospital and back then made a promise to herself to one day become the MEC of Limpopo.
“She made us all proud for what she has become and what she does for the department. Her speech during the unveiling was so true to herself. It is heartwarming to see her achieve her goals and greatness for the people of Limpopo,” Hudson said with a proud smile.
