#WFD – Boerewors Stew

Serve the stew with rice or sadza

POLOKWANE – Most people are used to seeing Boerewors on the braai or in a roll but it can be used in other dishes as well.

With this recipe, by What’s for Dinner, boerewors is used to make a delicious stew.

Ingredients

  1. 15ml cooking oil
  2. 1 ½ onions, chopped
  3. 15ml Rajah Mild & Spicy Curry Powder
  4. 5ml Robertsons Steak & Chops Spice
  5. 2 tomatoes, chopped
  6. 400g boerewors, sliced
  7. 500ml water
  8. 500g pumpkin, peeled and cubed
  9. 1 Knorrox Beef Stock Cube
  10. 30ml KNORR Minestrone Soup

Method

  1. In a pot, brown the onion in oil
  2. Add the Rajah Mild & Spicy Curry Powder, Robertsons Steak & Chop Spice and tomatoes
  3. Fry for about 2 minutes
  4. Add the sliced boerewors and fry until well browned
  5. Add the pumpkin, 2 cups of water and Knorrox Beef Stock Cube, turn down the heat and all it all to simmer for 20 minutes
  6. Just before serving, mix the Knorr Minestrone Soup with 4 tablespoons of water to make a smooth paste and add it to the pot
  7. Allow the dish to simmer for a further 5 minutes or until the Stew becomes thick
  8. Serve with rice or sadza
