SAPS sergeant and three accomplices out on bail

The four suspects were arrested by the Hawks on Wednesday, 19 July for fuel fraud.

LIMPOPO –  A police sergeant together with his three accomplices appeared before the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court on Thursday where they were all granted bail.

The four suspects were arrested by the Hawks on Wednesday, 19 July for fuel fraud.

The 37-year-old sergeant was granted R5 000 bail and the three petrol attendants bail of R2 000 each. The case was postponed to 29 September for further investigation.


LIMPOPO- Hawks’ Serious Corruption Unit members have on Wednesday, 19 July 2017 arrested a 37-year-old police sergeant and three petrol attendants for fraud.

The sergeant, who is attached to Thohoyandou Local Criminal Record Centre  (LCRC), allegedly booked in a state vehicle without the petrol card during April this year. However, he continued using the said card to fill his private vehicle as well as other vehicles with the assistance of the said petrol attendants, according to Hawks Spokesperson, Capt Mtimba Maluleke.

The total petrol bill amounts to the value of R38 000, said Maluleke.

All four suspects will appear before Thohoyandou Magistrate Court today, 20 July 2017 to face fraud charges.
