Muni gives Disteneng land invaders more time to relocate

This follows protests by residents on Wednesday who are opposing the eviction

POLOKWANE – The municipality have given residents more time to relocate before eviction from the sheriff, following a court order to vacate municipal land.

According to the municipality, the residents were given the notice to vacate on 17 July 2017.

On Wednesday morning, residents took to the street in protest and blocked Nelson Mandela Drive between Vermikuliet and Legae La Batho robot.

A statement released by the Municipality says the area site is earmarked for integrated human settlements where low,medium and high income housing ,social housing and businesses will be constructed by the appointed service provider.

The Executive Mayor, Cllr Thembi Nkadimeng urged Disteneng illegal land invaders to comply with the court order and cooperate with the Municipality.
