Energy FM encourages youth to prosper

A youthful figure in the radio industry itself, Energy FM makes a point of taking young talent under its wing

POLOKWANE –  Since its first official broadcast on 27 October 2014, the station has thus far produced several radio personalities who are now trading their talent on bigger media platforms.

In the first few months of its inception the station released one of its trusted and talented news reader Kgabo the Selector Boy Mokgonyane to the SABC’s Thobela FM, where he has been given the responsibility and opportunity to drive the Party Time show.

As if that was not enough, two more Energy FM stars Nkadimeng Kekana followed suite to Thobela FM’s Morning Drive show, while the highly talented Sepedi newsreader Kgaogelo Mathonsi has been given an opportunity and the role to fill in the big shoes of the late gospel veteran presenter Joe Mabotja on Thobela FM.

Bothwell BK Matewe, Energy FM Station Manager said the mandate for community radio is to unearth and train up and coming radio personalities and Energy FM is not shy to brag that it has proven to be the breeding ground for other commercial stations.

“Capricorn FM has since acquired the services of gifted presenters and producers in Kulani Hobyane, Tebogo Nkomo, Pamela Ditshego and Tlou Tlolane,” he added.

BK further tells BONUS that the station is proud to have been part of the talent nurturing process for all those who have graduated to the big league.

“We kept to our mandate from the onset without compromise on the quality of the product and will continue to educate, entertain and inform our loyal listeners,” BK said.
