Public Order Police fire rubber bullets in Mookgopong

Police were reacting to demonstrators who turned violent at the Spif Chicken Farm.

LIMPOPO – Police reacted to reports of unrest situation in Spif Chicken Farm in Naboomspruit on Friday afternoon, 30 June.

Demonstrators then began pelting motorists with stones and other objects when public order police (POP) were called in to try and control the situation.

Police spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe says despite POP’s presence,  demonstrators were adamant and refused to cooperate.

“POP acted accordingly and dispersed the crowd by firing rubber bullets,” he said.

A case docket for public violence and two of malicious damage to property were opened but no arrests have been made as yet.
