Castle corner robbed, one suspect arrested

An undisclosed amount of money and gambling machine money boxes were taken.

MOKOPANE – The pub was robbed on Sunday evening at around 22:00.

Garrie Nel, owner of Castle Corner said:

“The suspects must have known where the manager kept the keys and alarm remotes, as the suspect unlocked the doors and deactivated the alarm.”

On Monday morning Nel found the doors unlocked when he arrived at the pub. The safe was open and an undisclosed amount of cash and 10 gambling machine money boxes were stolen.

The security company did not suspect anything as they thought employees were still at the premises.

Mokopane Police Spokesperson, Const Irene Masingi said the police launched a manhunt and a suspect was arrested.

“Some cash and seven gambling machine money boxes were recovered.”

The man appeared in the Mokopane Magistrate’s Court on 20 June and was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on 29 June.
