Mrs Polokwane hopeful grooms aspiring models

Esther Mamikie Mosima aims to give young girls and women from remote areas in the province the opportunity to experience the pageant world

POLOKWANE – Aspiring models recently had the opportunity to mingle with the Mr and Mrs Sunshine 2017/2018 judges in a pre-run event ahead of the pageant later this year.

Mrs Polokwane hopeful and pageant organiser, Esther Mamikie Mosima, hosted the event with the assistance of local professionals in the modelling industry.

The President of the South African Modelling Youth Forum, Percy Mohale, event organiser, Esther Mamikie Mosima, and the judges for the pageant, Ivy Selolo, Moloko Kganakga and Melita Ngoasheng are ready to judge the contestants at the Mr and Mrs Sunshine 2017/2018 beauty pageant.

The aim is to give young girls and women from remote areas in the province the opportunity to experience the pageant world.

Esther says she knows how lack of exposure can hinder career development as she did not get a lot of publicity when she started her modelling career. She now hopes communities will open up to the idea of helping their members reach their dreams.

“I come from the rural areas and it is very hard for us to access the information that we need to succeed” she says.

Some of the aspiring models selected to compete in the competition pose at the Jack Botes Hall.

Mr and Miss Sunshine 2017/2018 will take place on the 30 September in Moletjie and the youth, namely girls from five to 25 years and boys from 13 to 26 years, who are interested in taking part in the contest, are encouraged to do so as entries are still open.
