Muni: ‘If you don’t report, we won’t know to fix it’

The Polokwane Municipality says not reporting a problem can delay the time they take to fix it.

POLOKWANE – Municipality Spokesperson, Matshidiso Mothapo, said the municipality is working hard to better service delivery in the municipal area.

He said that when an issue is reported early it can be attended to as speedily as possible and this is what the municipality aims for.

“You will find that in many cases the municipality is never made aware of the problem, this incident shows that cases reported do get the needed attention as soon as possible by the municipality.”

He said that people often do not report a problem because they believe that it has been reported by someone else, in many cases this is not true and delays the time the municipality can act on a problem.

He thanked the residents who do report these matters and urged residents to report a problem as soon as they encounter one.

The Municipality is to be praised for their quick response following  a burst water pipe in Hans van Rensburg Street recently.

A burst pipe in Hans van Rensburg Street was speedily repaired by the municipality.

The problem of burst water pipes is nothing new in Polokwane, but quick response from the municipality seems to be on the increase.

Employees of surrounding businesses in the area contacted the municipality to report the matter and they were informed that plumbers would attend to the problem within half an hour.

Help arrived within half an hour as promised and work started immediately. The repair was completed the following afternoon at 12:00.

“This is what we call service. We would like to call on the municipality to keep up the good work, as they not only proved that they can be trusted, but also showed that they care about the business sector in the city by reacting quickly to the problem,” Lani Bouwer, a business manager, told BONUS.
