MOKOPANE – The Mayor of Mogalakwena Municipality, Andrina Matsemela, said the police confirmed on Tuesday morning that Nkuna was shot by unknown gunmen. He was transported to the local clinic and upon arrival he was declared dead. “We are deeply shocked by this act of criminality against this young and determined person.”
According to Matsemela circumstances surrounding the incident are still being investigated. “We have confidence in the country’s law enforcement authorities who are working around the clock to apprehend the perpetrators,”
The motive for his killing is still unknown, Matsemela and other councilors who visited the family on Wednesday, called for calm and urged people to allow the law to run its course.
Matsemela appeals to people not to speculate on the motive for Nkuna’s killing. Police have assured the Nkuna family that the case is receiving maximum attention and urge co-operation. “On behalf of the Mogalakwena Municipality I wish to send my deepest condolences to Nkuna’s family at his untimely death,” Matsemela said. “Nkuna’s death has brought much pain and shock and the family will soon communicate the funeral arrangements.”
