Man murdered and mutilated outside Thohoyandou

Police say a ritual related murder can not be ruled out.

LIMPOPO – Police in Thohoyandou have launched a manhunt for suspects involved in the brutal killing of a 23-year-old man.

It is alleged that the body of the Deceased was found by a passer-by lying at the local soccer ground in Muledane village outside Thohoyandou in the early hours of Monday morning.

Police spokesperson, Lt Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe says the body of the deceased was found with multiple stab wounds and his nose, lips and both ears were missing.

“Preliminary police investigations have revealed that the deceased might have been killed somewhere and dragged to the area where his body was found,” he says.

Ngoepe says the motive behind this killing is unknown but ritual related murder cannot be ruled out.

The local Community have as a result started blocking the inner roads but Public Order Police have been deployed to the area to monitor the situation.

“The Police would like to request that the community remain calm and give the police space to investigate the case in full,” Ngoepe added

Ngoepe urged anyone with information about the suspects to contact Lt Colonel William Ramokhubedu at 082 499 8389, go to the nearest police station, contact the crime stop number 0860010111 or the crime line sms 32211.

The suspects are still unknown and no arrests have been made.

Ngoepe says investigations continue.
