Easter message from Lim Premier

Limpopo Premier, Stanley Mathabatha, wishes to welcome the millions of pilgrims from all over the world, and especially throughout Africa to the greatest pilgrim visit that accommodates more than six million people every Easter.

POLOKWANE – “I wish again to make a fervent call to the drivers who will embark on their long weekend starting this Thursday, to drive safely and consider other road users.

Our major roads are safe, but are frequently made unsafe by reckless and inconsiderate road users, which include both drivers and pedestrians,” Mathabatha said.

He added the greatest enemies of our roads are speeding, alcohol abuse and recklessness. These, he added, cost the country millions of Rand on the roads every year.

Accordingly, Easter is supposed to be a time of remembrance and reflection to Christian families, a time of pilgrimage, since it is known that Limpopo is home to the largest ZCC churches on the African continent.

More than six million of these members gather during Easter at Boyne, near Polokwane.

“Our traffic officials, including community and police officials, have been instructed more than ever to make their presence felt on every square inch of our roads and villages. Traffic police are going to be visible every 40 km on all major routes of Limpopo,” he said.

“It is therefore my privilege to wish all of you a happy and safe Easter weekend. May the Lord God protect us throughout and return us safe with our families.”
