Round 2 of national protests: A birthday present for Zuma

Both the DA and the EFF in Limpopo will be traveling to Pretoria to take part in the second #AntiZuma march tomorrow.

POLOKWANE – Following President Jacob Zuma’s remarks that last week’s nationwide marches against him show racism is still alive in South Africa, another march is set to take place tomorrow, on his 75th birthday.

Political parties including the African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP), African People’s Convention (APC), Congress of the People (COPE), Democratic Alliance (DA), Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) and the United Democratic Movement (UDM) have joined forces in the
calls for Zuma to step down and the march is set to take place to the Union Buildings in Pretoria.

Provincial Democratic Alliance leader, Jacques Smalle said he and other DA representatives will be joining this march to the Union Buildings tomorrow (12 April).

“The party has, however, made application for a march to take place from the SABC park to Treasury on April 18, the day the vote of no-confidence is to take place in Parliament,” Smalle told Review on Monday.

He said he invited other parties and organisations to join the party during the march, but will only get confirmation later.

The EFF’s Provincial Secretary Jossey Buthane says the party will also be traveling to Pretoria tomorrow to take part in the mass march.

“We are not arranging any march here in Polokwane. We will be joining the rest of the EFF in Pretoria,” he told Review.

EFF leader Julius Malema, on Monday, warned pro-Zuma activists not to attempt disrupting the mega protest, saying it is going to be a peaceful march.
