Police clean-up operations still cracking the whip on criminals

At approximately 13:00 yesterday (Thursday), the intelligence-driven joint operation team comprising of various police units chased down and arrested two suspects caught in the act of house-breaking in Bela Bela.

LIMPOPO – Two suspects aged 24 and 29 broke into a house, used a grinder to open the safe from which they stole firearms and cash. The team pursued the two suspects who fled the scene and hid in nearby bushes. The suspects were apprehended and arrested.

The following items were recovered:

1 x Plasma TV

5 x rifles

1 x 22 dart guns

1x 9mm pistol

12 x bore shotguns

15 x 9mm ammunition rounds

3 x rifle telescopes and R2 110 in cash.

The suspects will appear before the Bela Bela Magistrate Court soon and police investigations are still continuing.

Meanwhile in the Magatle and Zebediela areas outside Lebowakgomo, the operation continued in the form of foot and horse patrols and shebeen raids.

During these raids, the following was recovered:

14 grams of dagga

1 x 9mm pistol with 2 live rounds

1 x bag of dagga.

32 nyaope sachets.

A man carrying a three-year-old boy was apprehended when he tried to enter the country illegally by crossing the river at the Groblersburg border post. He was intercepted by the Lephalale k9 Unit together with members of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF). The man subsequently dropped the boy in the river and tried to run but he was caught and arrested. The boy was safely recovered.

The man’s vehicle was searched and dagga weighing 14.660 kg was found in the boot. He will appear before the Mokopane Magistrate Court soon and police investigations are continuing.
