‘Crime getting out of hand’ – Ndivhuwo Musetha

Media man Ndivhuwo Musetha and his cousin were seriously injured when they were attacked by intruders last weekend.

LIMPOPO – The assailants are thought to be of Zimbabwean descent.

According to Musetha, he heard a noise in the kitchen at around 02:00 and came across two men in the passage.

He was stabbed in the eye and hit with a blunt object.

Ndivhuwo Musetha sustained a serious eye injury.

During the struggle, Musetha managed to take a hold of the knife of one of his attackers, upon which one of them fled.

“I called my cousin who was sleeping in another room. During the brawl, the attacker called for his accomplice not to leave him behind. He had bitten my finger and my legs were also injured,” said Musetha.

His cousin was also injured in the attack.

Musetha’s wife alerted neighbours who called the police.

He was rushed to the Thohoyandou Block G-Clinic for treatment before being transferred to Limpopo Medi-Clinic in Polokwane.

“Crime is out of hand in Thohoyandou and we are not safe in our own homes. Criminals don’t care, so the community must stand up and see how to stop this problem,” he said.

“I’m lucky that I received treatment from an experienced doctor. The surgery alone took three hours.”

Musetha’s cousin was rushed to Tshilidzini Hospital for treatment.

Zamba Maluleke, Regional Manager for Home Affairs in the Vhembe Region said he is aware that some foreigners are committing crimes and they can’t be traced as they were in the country illegally.

He warned residents not to harbour illegal immigrants: “In each and every household where there is a foreign national, people should make sure their Home Affairs documentation is in order. We don’t hate foreigners, but they must follow the right procedures,” said Maluleke.

Limpopo Police Spokesperson Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe said he was awaiting a full report from the Thohoyandou Police Station.
