12 arrested as Limpopo SAPS continue fighting crime

LIMPOPO – Limpopo SAPS held the operations in different areas of the province.

Five suspects, between the ages of 23 and 42, were arrested in Makhado where a Toyota Camry and groceries worth R8 000 were recovered.

Police Spokesperson LT Col Moatshe Ngoepe says a fifth suspect was arrested with four bags of avocados which were stolen from farms outside Louis Trichardt.

“Preliminary investigations have revealed that the suspects with groceries were terrorising retail shops in Tzaneen, Thohoyandou and Polokwane,” he says.

In Seshego, a 23-year-old man was arrested and a 7.65 pistol, one magazine and five rounds were seized

In Lulekani outside Phalaborwa, a 24-year-old man was arrested for a series of residential burglaries at Matiko Xikaya village and a Samsung laptop valued R5000 was recovered.

In addition, a 29-year-old man in Giyani was also arrested for a series of residential burglaries where the following items were recovered:

• Two pairs of male trousers
• One Omega amplifier
• A DVD player
• One Rocksonic machine (valued at over R5000)

Ngoepe says two suspects, aged 36 and 38 were arrested in Dennilton outside Groblesdal, during a raid of an illegal liquor trader.

“The following items were recovered: 96 bottles of liquor, 106 empty beer bottles, 19 different beer crates as well as dagga,” says Ngoepe.

Furthermore, at the Groblersburg Border Post, two suspects (aged 26 and 38-years-old) were arrested while travelling from Swaziland to Botswana via South Africa.

Ngoepe says the suspects were found in a stolen Ford Ranger 2.2 with Swaziland registration plates.

“The vehicle was reported stolen on 17 January 2017 at BB Menlyn in Pretoria,” says Ngoepe.

In Nebo, outside Burgersfort, a stolen motor vehicle was recovered but the suspect is still being traced.

“The suspects will all appear before different Magistrate Courts soon and Police investigations are still continuing,” Ngoepe concluded.
