Police crack down on criminals, with over 146 suspects arrested during Limpopo weekend operation

The operation started on Saturday morning and commenced until this morning, says the police

LIMPOPO – 146 suspects were nabbed over the weekend for various offenses, ranging from possession of drugs, dagga to armed robbery, during intelligence led police operations which took place throughout the province, says the police.

According to Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, the operation which composed various police units started on Saturday morning and commenced until this morning (Monday) in the Lephalale, Modimolle, Makhado, Giyani, Burgersfort clusters.

The arrests were as follows:

Nine suspects aged  between 19 and 31-years-old were arrested for possession of dagga in the Makado cluster. During the arrest parcels full of dagga (street value of R2 800), 5 match boxes of dagga weighing 0,42 g (valued at R400) and 1 match box of dagga weighing 0,3 g (valued R50) were recovered.

Lephalale cluster: seven suspects aged between 20 and 46-years-old were arrested and 5 litres of dagga (estimated value of R2 000), four boxes of dagga (estimated value of R400), five sachets of dagga (estimated value of R550), 4 litres of dagga (estimated value of  R1 800), three plastic bags of CAT (street value of R120 000), cash amounting to R1 070 and two cell phones were recovered.

Burgersfort cluster: a 44-year-old woman was arrested in Lebowakgomo for possession of dagga weighing 2.0 g. Dagga plants were also recovered.

Bela-Bela Cluster: a stolen white Isuzu bakkie, which was stripped  of the radio/tape deck and the battery, was recovered in the  Pinaarsrivier  area. The suspect is still on the run, added Ngoepe.

In the Polokwana, Tzaneen and Modimolle areas, a total of 129 suspects were arrested for assault , theft and house breaking and theft.
