Glass half full for Kgatle

Kgatle's extra spunk comes from knowing that listeners respond well to a presenter who is unique and innovative.

POLOKWANE – The voice of Sello Kgatle can be heard on Friday and Saturday, as the dynamic presenter of the Party District on Energy FM, which is aired from 22:00-02:00.

Kgatle always makes sure that his listeners are captivated.

The 29-year-old hails from Unit G in Mankweng and is currently in his final year studying towards a BA in media studies at the University of Limpopo.

Kgatle joined the Energy FM team on 15 November 2016 which subsequently became the same day he went live on air.

This is what Kgatle said about why he decided to join the team.

“The station was established not so long ago but it had more content and swagger than most stations that have been in existence for a long time.

And I value progress, that’s why I came to here,” Kgatle said.

According to Kgatle he did not land in the media industry by chance.

He cited being a radio personality as one of his passions in life.

“I normally make fun of the names that some of our listeners have.

Names like Jeso, Skotch and Motsipa. Mostly when men ask me to send their ladies a dedication, I get my sexy voice on and I pretend like I’m hitting on the lady but it’s just for fun and I give brothers out there tips on how to talk to ladies,” Kgatle continued.

When he’s not working, Kgatle says he spend a chunk of his time studying, recording music and doing subtitles for productions in their company.

“You should stop at nothing in making sure that you get to where you want to be.

“If you believe in it you can be it,” he said.

Kgatle went on to say that his family has been a never ending source of support for him and have been there for him from the beginning.

“My family is excited for me because they know that I was always praying that I get the call from the station after submitting my demo.

“My family and friends know that radio presenting is what I’ve always wanted to do,” he added.

According to Kgatle, the best advice he can give to the youth is to be careful of the company they keep.

“If you cannot benefit positively with the person you describe as a friend – then you should not be friends with that kind of person,” Kgatle concluded.
