Interesting facts about some of the most-loved movies of our time

Did you know some of the most iconic movie scenes were improvised by the actors

Some of the most iconic movies ever receive critical acclaim because of stellar performances by their actors. What most people are unaware of is that in most of these movies, these iconic scenes were improvised by the actors to create a more genuine performance. This was the case with the following movies:

The Goonies:

The movie became one of the most beloved family movies of the 1980’s thanks to some great performances from its then young cast. In one particular scene, actor Sean Astin’s speech about One-eyed Willy was completely improvised. Director Richard Donner asked the young actor to improvise the speech and he did a fine job.

The Godfather:

The Godfather has often been regarded as the greatest movie ever made. One of the most iconic scenes, where actor Vito Corleone strokes a cat just before sending a man to be beaten, was also completely improvised by director, Francis Ford Coppola. Some say that Coppola found a stray cat just moments before the scene was filmed and placed it on Corleone to create a more cold-hearted effect.

The Dark Knight:

The Dark Knight has been rated as the best superhero movie of all time all thanks to an Academy Award winning performance by actor, Heath Ledger, as the Joker. On one occasion, however Ledger’s character was supposed to walk down the street with an explosion going off in the background. Ledger, however stopped walking during the scene and began fidgeting with the detonator just before the explosion was supposed to go off. The scene was so hilarious that director Christopher Nolan chose to use it in the final cut.
