‘There is Zero law enforcement’

"The high road carnage on South Africa's roads is due to the lack of adherence to traffic rules and regulations and the total lack of law enforcement."

“I am gravely concerned about the community’s irresponsible adult drivers in Potties, with regard to the failure to obey basic road ordinance traffic signs. I am referring to male and female, black and white, traffic officials and SAPS members who disrespect the law by failing to stop at STOP signs and who do not adhere to the correct behavior at 4 way stops.

What kind of an example are these seasoned adult drivers setting for the many learner drivers driving around town with “L” plated driving school motor cars? What kind of an example are these seasoned adult drivers setting for the hundreds of matriculants who will all be applying for their learners and drivers licenses next year? The high road carnage on South Africa’s roads is due to the lack of adherence to traffic rules and regulations and the total lack of law enforcement.

The only perpetrators that are brought to book are those caught at speed traps where they receive a fine or pay a bribe. Further there is no law enforcement.

The law enforcers are parked under shady trees out of site and far from where the traffic violations take place.

I have never seen any law enforcement officials stationed at any intersections and apprehending perpetrators who fail to adhere to road traffic signs?

I have never seen any law enforcement officials patrolling and apprehending offenders for overtaking on solid white lines? A police or traffic official presence on

the side of the road under a shady tree is by no means a methodology for enforcing the law. Motorists behave when they see them parked on the roadsides.

However, out of site, there is ZERO law enforcement and this is where the carnage occurs.”
