Local tracking teams assist in arrest of 4th Haenertsburg attack suspect

The fourth suspect was arrested n the Ritavi area outside Tzaneen, says the police

LIMPOPO – The fourth suspect allegedly involved in the armed robbery and assault of an elderly couple in Haenertsburg last Thursday was arrested in the Ritavi area outside Tzaneen yesterday afternoon (Tuesday).

According to Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo, the police operation comprised the Tracking Teams from Mankweng and Tzaneen, Crime Intelligence and Detectives from Haenertsburg. The following items were confiscated during the arrest: 1x revolver, 1x 9mm pistol with magazine, 4x rounds of shotgun ammunition, 3x cellphones, 3x remote controls, 1x Toshiba laptop.

The suspect, from Mohlaba Cross, Ritavi, is expected to appear before the Haenertsburg Magistrate’s Court soon and will face an extra charge of possession of illegal firearms and ammunition, added Mojapelo.

The investigation concerning the stolen vehicle continues.

The Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba commended the members for spending sleepless nights tracking down the suspects. He concluded by thanking members of the community for their continued support in assisting the police in the province.

LIMPOPO -The fourth suspect allegedly involved in the armed robbery and assault of an elderly couple in Haenertsburg last Thursday is still on the run, says the police.

The four suspects allegedly attacked the elderly couple and their employee, ransacked the house and robbed them of a number of items and fled in the couple’s white Isuzu KB250 single cab bakkie with steel bars and registration number CVV887L.

According to Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo three of the suspect have since been arrested and appeared before the Haenertsburg Magistrate’s Court yesterday (Monday) and were remanded in custody. They will appear again today in the same court.

“All items were recovered, except the vehicle, whom the police believe is still in the possession of the fourth suspect,” Mojapelo says.

The police are still looking for Thomas Nkuna, whom they believe might assist in the investigation.
