Giyani accident claims 4 lives, injures several

LIMPOPO – The police in Giyani are investigating a case of Culpable Homicide after two vehicles collided head-on between Giyani CBD and Giyani Section A today (Saturday).

According to a statement issued by Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, it is alleged that a sedan travelling from the direction of Section A going towards the CBD collided head-on with a bus coming from the opposite direction. The sedan landed underneath the bus.

“The four occupants of the sedan including the driver were certified dead at the scene,” he said.

“The cause of the accident is still unknown but preliminary investigations revealed that one of these two vehicles was overtaking at a blind spot along the road,” he added.

The total number of people travelling in the bus that were injured is said to be about 10, but the exact number is also still being determined, he continued.

“The identities ,sex and ages of the deceased are still to be determined. Police investigations continue.
