Learning to take center stage in 2017 says Kgetjepe

As Limpopo was ranked second last of all the provinces, in terms of performance, Kgetjepe said a team of officials has been assembled to pay special attention to underperforming schools across the province as per the academic performance improvement plan.

POLOKWANE – Limpopo’s  2016 NSC  results took the limelight at Bolivia Lodge on Thursday morning, a day after national results were announced by minister for basic education, Angie Motshekga, during a ceremony which honoured the province’s top matriculants.

Limpopo Department of Education MEC, Ishmael Kgetjepe announced the province’s results but first noted that issues of textbooks and other teaching and learning materials are a thing of the past “We need to enforce and ensure that teaching and learning takes place in our schools from the beginning of the year,” he said.

As Limpopo was ranked second last of all the provinces, in terms of performance, Kgetjepe said a team of officials has been assembled to pay special attention to underperforming schools across the province as per the academic performance improvement plan.

Following another leaked paper scandal for the second year in a row, in which a Grade 12 mathematics examination paper was leaked to students in Giyani, Mopani District, Kgetjepe confirmed that implicated learners in Giyani high schools’ results would be withheld as investigations are ongoing. He also noted that results were blocked in two independent schools.
