Local man bust with hijacked vehicles

A 33-year-old man found in possession of stolen vehicles was arrested earlier today at a house in the city, say the police.

POLOKWANE –  According to statement issued by Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe, an intelligence led joint operation as part of Operation Festive Season, conducted by members of the Crime Unit, Provincial Tracking Team and the Provincial Detectives led to the man’s arrest at a house in Ivypark on Friday.

During the arrest, three hijacked vehicles each fitted with cloned registration numbers, to the value of around R3 million were recovered said Ngoepe.

The recovered vehicles are as follows:

– white Toyota Hilux which was hijacked at Hartebeespoortdam.

– White BMW 3 series which was hijacked at Mamelodi.

– White Mercedes-Benz C63 which was registered in Lesotho and still being investigated.

The man will appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Monday on a charge of possession of stolen vehicles.

Police investigations continue concluded Ngoepe.
