She says that she would advise people to be especially cautious when it comes to working with ATM's. "Do not trust anyone for assistance. If you do not know the machine, ask people inside the shop or bank where the machine is situated, for assistance." she said.She also urged people not to leave their homes unattended. Priscilla Hlaraka is an employee at a local car dealership and her tip is on road safety. “Do not drink and drive and stop and rest if you feel tired. Follow the rules of the road and don’t overload your vehicle. And always remember that speed kills. Arrive alive,” she said. Dr. Naledzani Rasila, Spokesperson for the Department of Education, said that his advice would be to the matriculants of the past year. “Now that you are done with school do not go overboard and get yourselves into trouble. Go and be safe, and being safe means to stay away from things that can damage your reputation when it comes to a further education.” Rasila said. Angela de Ponte is a local businesswoman and said that her tip for the festive season is to people going shopping in places they may not know. “Be aware and alert of what’s happening around you in order to keep yourself safe,” she said. Charlotte van den Berg is a local school teacher and her advice is that people should do their shopping early to avoid being in the city when it is busy, as this is when criminals look for easy targets. ” Women travelling alone must always carry pepper spray.
