LIMPOPO – The Giyani Police have arrested a 22-year-old man for the brutal murder of a 17-year-old girl who is a Gr 11 learner at Mukula High School in Nsavulani village outside Giyani earlier today.
According to a statement issued by Police Spokesperson, LT Col Moatshe Ngoepe, the deceased who was sleeping alone in a two roomed house allegedly started screaming at around 01:00.. other family members who came out to investigate saw a male person running away.
“While lying in a pool of blood, just before she died, she told her family she was stabbed by a well known person staying in the village. She died as a result of multiple stab wounds throughout her body,” said Ngoepe.
The knife presumed to be the one used by the suspect during the incident was found next to the deceased’s body, he added.
The suspect was traced and arrested within a few hours of the incident.
The motive of this killing is still unknown and police investigations are still continuing.
The suspect will appear before the Giyani Magistrate Court on Monday on a charge of murder, concluded Ngoepe.
