‘Love triangle’ leads to CBD shooting
A 48-year-old man from Mokopane was arrested on two counts of murder after he allegedly shot and killed two people at around 18:00 yesterday (Monday).
MOKOPANE –It is alleged the suspect found his girlfriend and another man, who she was believed to be romantically involved with, in a car at the corner of Retief and Pretorious Street in Mokopane CBD. According to a statement issued by LT. Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, the suspect approached the couple, and without saying anything, shot both of them.
The deceased were identified as Elliott Makalela (49) and Sina Kgosana (32).
The motive behind the killings is unknown but a love triangle may not be ruled out.
The suspect will appear before Mokopane Magistrate’s Court soon on two counts of murder and police investigations are continuing.
