Phalaphala FM’s poetry man

The journalist/ poet says he is always fully booked to perform at weddings, government events and funerals.

LIMPOPO – Phalaphala FM’s current matter journalist, Owen Muebi, proves to be a many of many talents with the debut of his very first poetry album, Tshelede featuring Sialala.

The highly anticipated launch is scheduled for 10 December at his home village, Duthuni.

The title track, Tshelede, is like a revelation that today’s relationships are centered around money. In this rendition, a man without money can’t win a woman’s heart in modern society.

Muebi, who obtained a BA degree in international relations from the University of Venda in 2004, says he discovered his gift while he was still in primary school.

“Apart from being a poet, I also wrote a motivational book and have explored my scope as a comedian. Over the years, I have won more than 25 awards for my achievements in education and media, as well as for my skills as a radio man and community developer,” he explains.

Muebi, along with Mashudu Mabidi, Lukoko, Ravha Ratshitanga and Venda Boy are all members of Ndilo ya Vhurendi ha VhaVenda, an organisation of poets in the Vhembe district.

“I am always fully booked to attend events and I am thankful to my parents, Jameson and Virginia Muebi, for being my inspiration and always supporting me. Poetry is my life and I cannot imagine life without it,” he concludes.
