Suspect (35) arrested following discovery of charred remains of woman and child

The burned bodies of a woman and a toddler discovered along the Wolkberg dirt road on the morning of 19 October have been identified.

POLOKWANE – Police in Mankweng have arrested a 35-year-old suspect for the murder of the two victims whose burned remains were found by a passing motorist near Makgeng village on 19 October, says the police.

The bodies have since been identified by a family member as Thibudi Malemela (28) and her 2 month-old baby, Jeremiah Malemela says Brig Mojapelo.

“Both deceased are from Viking village at ga-Mamabolo next to Boyne, Moria,” he adds.

The motive for these killings is still being investigated.

The suspect is believed to be the ex-boyfriend of the deceased and will appear before Mankweng Magistrate Court soon.

POLOKWANE – The burned bodies of a woman and a toddler discovered along the Wolkberg dirt road on Wednesday morning have still not been identified.

According to information, the motorist came across the charred bodies of a woman believed to have been in her twenties and a toddler, approximately two-years-old, lying side by side on the dirt road at Makgeng village.

“The deceased woman was wearing a ring, had two front gold teeth and a red weaves or wig (hair),” says Provicnial POlice Spokesperson, Lt Col Moatshe Ngoepe

A small pink blanket was found next to the toddler’s body adds Ngoepe.

Police are appealing to the next-of-kin, neighbors or anyone who might shed light on the identity of the deceased to come forward.
