Cellphones, meat, vehicle stolen in two separate robberies

No arrests have been made in either business robbery

LIMPOPO –  Police in the province are investigating two separate armed robberies that took place yesterday (Monday), one in Tzaneen and the other in Lebowakgomo, the police says.

In the first robbery, five armed suspects attacked a security guard who was on duty at the Bridgeway Butchery in Sasekani village, outside Tzaneen at around 05:15 yesterday morning.

“They held the guard at gun point, tied him up and entered the building through the roof. Meat worth R7 000, A white Nissan Hardbody bakkie valued at R198 000, computer monitor valued at R15 000 and an undisclosed amount of money was stolen. They fled the scene in the stolen vehicle.

The Ritavi police were immediately notified and managed to track down the stolen vehicle which was found nearby bushes in the Sekororo area.

No arrests have been made in connection with this robbery and police investigations continue.

In the second, separate incident, a clothing store and its employees were robbed by three armed suspects outside Lebowakgomo around midday on Monday.

“The suspects entered the Foschini store in the Jane Furse Mall, held the employees on duty at gunpoint while robbing the store of 115 cell phones and an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing the scene. No shots were fired and no injuries were reported.

No arrests have been made as yet and Jane Furse police have launched a manhunt for the three armed suspects.
