Seven-year-old kidnapping victim found dead in a cattle dip

The Provincial Police Commissioner, LT. General Nneke Ledwaba has strongly condemned the kidnapping of a seven-year-old boy in Hlanganani outside Giyani.

LIMPOPO – According to a statement issued by LT. Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, the boy was taken by an unknown suspect on Sunday afternoon at approximately 15:00. It is alleged a red sedan pulled up to the boy and his friends, the driver called the boy over to him, pulled him into the vehicle and sped away.

The matter was reported to the police and a search ensued which ended today (Tuesday) after the boy’s body was found floating in a cattle (plunge) dip in Olifantshoek in the Hlanganani area.

The cause of death, motive and suspects in the matter are still unknown. Police investigations continue says Ngeope.

Community members are hereby asked not to interfere with police investigations and are strongly urged to avoid getting involved in illegal activities including mob-attacks and killings.
