POLOKWANE – According to Police Spokesperson, Lt Col Maotshe Ngoepe, residents in the community along Greenside and Mashashane alerted the police to the situation on Tuesday morning.
“The police reacted swiftly on the tip-off and caught 10 suspects red-handed while loading the 30 stolen cattle into the trucks.”
Three men aged 27, 37 and 60 were arrested while the remaining seven escaped into the nearby bushes added Ngoepe.
Two trucks, a trailer and a branding iron were found at the scene by police.
The date of the men’s court appearance in the Seshego Magistrate’s Court has not yet been confirmed.
The owners of the cattle were notified of the incident and they are still identifying their livestock.
