‘Bogus’ Tzaneen pharmacist out on bail

The suspect appeared in Maake Magistrate Court Friday 19 august 2016 and got R800 bail.

LIMPOPO – A 34-year-old male nurse in Sekororo village, just outside Tzaneen, was arrested for operating a pharmacy without a license as well the contravention of Medicine Control Act and theft during a provincial intelligence driven operation led by the Hawk’s Commericial Crime Unit on Thursday 18 August.

“Medicines which require a license to be sold and a prescription to purchase were found during the search at his place of business,” says Limpopo spokesperson for the Hawks, Capt Matimba Maluleke.

Medicines which are believed to have been stolen from the Department of Health were also recovered he adds. The suspect appeared in Maake Magistrate Court Friday 19 august 2016 and got R800 bail.

He is set to reappear in court on 26 September.

During the same operation another pharmacy which was using a license of another registered pharmacy to operate was also closed down at Mamaila village near Sekgosese.

“Large quantity of medicines, medical aid claim registers and other financial registers were also seized.”

The owner of the pharmacy will be arrested for fraud, contravention of Medicine Control Act and operating a pharmacy without a license.

Investigation continues he concludes.
