Nkadimeng retains mayoral seat

Thembi Nkadimeng takes a second term in office as the Polokwane Mayor.

POLOKWANE – She was sworn in during the council inauguration ceremony on Thursday morning.

Nkadimeng was nominated by the ANC as candidate for Polokwane mayor and DA councillor Franco Marx contested the nominated and nominated DA councillor Frank Haas for the mayoral position.

Council members had to vote.

In her acceptance speech Nkadimeng said it was an honour and equally a humbling experience to accept the appointment.” I must say that as a woman, this appointment says the African National Congress is indisputable when it says there shall be equal representation in leadership positions.”

“I commit this morning that our achievements can never be measured by the quality of speeches we make, but by the vigour we put in our resolve to improve the lives of the masses that sent us here.  I’m sure that this is not necessarily a moment to celebrate, but a moment to gather more strength and drive in preparation to continue in our journey to deliver on our mandate of a better life for all.”

please allow me to accept this appointment on behalf of all the women of Polokwane because the victories of all the women in here will be their victories,” she concluded.

Nkadimng also announced her new municipal council members. The names will be published in Review Bonus next week.
