Beware of scams warns Anglo

How to spot a fraudulent email:

LIMPOPO – Anglo American Platinum wishes to alert job seekers about ‘phishing’ scams in which fraudsters try to extract personal information or money pretending to be representing the company or one of its operations.

The company has been inundated with complaints and inquiries from members of the public seeking employment opportunities who have been targeted through a job scam.

The fraudsters make false job offers while asking for money to participate in a recruitment process, where unsuspecting job seekers are also asked for their banking details.

Anglo American Platinum does not ask for money for the recruitment process and we will not ask a job-seeker for their banking details before we have made a job offer.

Our comprehensive recruitment process involves a formal application & selection process and face-to-face interviews.

How to spot a fraudulent email:
•It’s asking for money.
• It’s asking for banking details before a job offer has been made.
• The email address is different to this format: name.surname@angloamerican.com.
• It’s out of the blue
When job seekers receive a suspicious email, get in touch with us at recruitmentfraud@angloamerican.com.
