‘I am living my dream’

Opening her own school and giving children a proper education has always been a dream for Lizelle Calitz.

POLOKWANE – In 2013 her dream came to light when she opened Bet-Shalom Christian School on the Bet-Shalom church property.

Lizelle, a practicing pastor for the past 18 years, says that opening the school was her biggest challenge in life because of all the administration that comes with starting a school.

She says she only managed to accomplish what she did due to the support of her family and guidance from God. The school offers classes up to Gr 3 with a new grade to be added every year.

Her motivation comes in the form of bettering herself as an individual and she believes she can do anything she sets her mind to.

She is a firm believer in second chances. “It does not matter where you are from, what matters is where you are going,” she explains.

In five years’ time, Lizelle says she aims to have a complete primary school up to Gr 7 with many learners passing through the gates of the school every morning.

“I am very content with who I am and where I am in my life and I can proudly say I am living my dream,” she says.
