Meet new president of Rotary Club Pietersburg 100

Some know him as a doctor, others as a friend, a selected few know him as both doctor and friend

POLOKWANE – Dr Pieter Vermeulen was recently inducted as the new President of The Rotary Club of Pietersburg 100. Here, surrounded by friends, Vermeulen enjoys the fellowship Rotary offers and the ability to help others in his community.

“The essence of Rotary is to help those who are less fortunate and in need. I love helping the community, unfortunately you cannot always help everyone, and there are many people in need in the province and the country,” he explains.

“I began my journey of community service at the Round Table, but you can only remain a member until the age of 40. When that time arrived, I joined the Rotary Club of Pietersburg 100 after a friend introduced me to the club.”

Being elected as president

Vermeulen says being elected as president is an honour, and says a member is nominated to become the President Elect.

“This means he is not the president yet, but will be the president in the following year. It is a privilege to be chosen as president as it shows the people you work with put their trust in you.

“Our club is very active and we will continue to help the community wherever possible for as long as possible,” he says.

Vermeulen says he looks forward to this year and is set to continue the good work the Rotary club has done in the past.
