Impalas train ahead of start of season

The Limpopo Impalas have began their pre season training which has seen both the women's and the men's teams come together for exercise and drills

POLOKWANE – The cricket season, which begins in October with a match against North West, will see the Impalas play three home games and three away games.

With an impressive track record last season, the Impalas will look to improve their game even more, and are training hard to prepare for the coming season.

Impalas Coaching Manager, Dumile Skade, says the goal for the season is to win the league.

Having reached their target of being in the top four last season and placing second in the Rural Week, which shocked many people, Skade says they have to work twice as hard this season to be ready.

“Many of the teams don’t want to say that they lost against Limpopo so they will be training harder to make sure that doesn’t happen, so we in turn have to work twice as hard to reach our goals and win all our games,” he says.

New players have also been called up to the team, and Skade says he hopes more players will make Titans calls, as well as to the SA Rural Team like Impalas player Hector Ngobeni did earlier this year.

The Impalas fixtures are as follows:

22 October: Limpopo vs North West (H)

5 November: Mpumalanga vs Limpopo (A)

19 November: Griqualand West vs Limpopo (A)

3 December: Limpopo vs Gauteng (H)

10 December: Limpopo vs Free State (H)

21 January 2017: KwaZulu-Natal Coastal vs Limpopo (A)
