POLOKWANE – The two men who were arrested for the possession of human body parts at a taxi rank in Polokwane, were also charged with murder after the police linked them to the murder of a woman whose burned headless body was found under a bridge in Mapela on Monday.

Matsobane Stanley Mohlake (35) and Edward Raatjie (50) from Mapela in Mahwelereng was arrested on Sunday, 10 July after the police followed up on a lead about people selling human body parts near the taxi rank in Market Street.

The police stopped and searched the suspects’ vehicle and found the female victim’s head wrapped in newspaper.

On Monday the police forensic team could not confirm whether the headless body was linked to the woman’s head found wrapped in newspaper, but further investigations by the police confirmed that the body parts were indeed linked. The men were charged with murder and appeared in the Mokerong Magistrate’s Court today (Friday).

They remain in police custody and the case was postponed to Wednesday, 20 July.
