Security officers prevent Kekana from entering muni building

On Friday the North Gauteng High Court ruled that William (Willy) Kekana should be reinstated as the municipal manger with immediate effect.

MOKOPANE –  William (Willy) Kekana was barred by security officers at the Mogalakwena Municipality this morning while attempting to enter the premises.

This follows after Kekana won the court case in the North Gauteng High Court on Friday against the Mogalakwena Municipality once again. The court ruled that Kekana should be reinstated as the municipal manger with immediate effect.

Kekana was expelled in 2015 during heated protests at the municipality and in April the court ruled that he should be reinstated, but the Mogalakwena Municipality appealed against the ruling.

This morning (Monday) as Kekana wanted to take over the reigns as municipal manager, he was unable to enter the premises.

Kekana told Bosveld he is currently in a meeting with his lawyer and that it is unacceptable that he is not able to enter the gates.

Mayor Parks Sebatjane said they are not willing to comment on the situation at the moment.

Updates to follow.
