[VOICE CLIP] Guard tells of his robbery ordeal

Three men assaulted him for a few rand and a cellphone...

POLOKWANE – Two guards from Urban Africa Security were assaulted and shot at while on duty at a business in Kobalt Street early Monday morning.

According to Westenburg Police Spokesperson Const Naphure Segabola, the security guard was on patrol when he was approached by three armed men who demanded money.

The guard explained he didn’t have access to money and was then robbed of his cell phone and R40 before his attackers assaulted him with an axe handle.

As they fled the scene, they fired four shots at a second guard who had protected himself during the ordeal by hiding under a wooden board.

A case of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm has been opened.
