ANC condemns ‘racist’ attack of petrol attendant

The ANC in Limpopo says it is disturbed by the recent "racist" attack of a petrol attendant in Tzaneen

POLOKWANE – The incident happened at 23:11 on Saturday evening when three men pulled up at the filling station and asked for 93 petrol.

The petrol attendant explained to the men that they only had 95 petrol, but the men were not happy with this and started shouting at the attendant.

“The people of South Africa have waged relentless struggles against the demons of racial segregation and self imposed white supremacy. Since the dawn of democracy in 1994, the majority of South Africans, both black and white, have made progress in embracing non-racialism and equality,” said ANC Limpopo secretary, Nocks Seabi, in a statement.

Seabi said it was unfortunate that some pockets of racist lunatics remained trapped in the past philosophy of white supremacy, worst of all, “used barbaric forms of extreme violence against innocent people”.

“While we call call on the masses of our people not to be provoked into retaliatory violence, we call on the justice system to be particularly harsh on perpetrators as a form of deterrence,” he said.

The ANC wished the attendant a speedy recovery.
