The source added that as the security officials arrived at the scene, the men left the filling station, but were stopped by the security guards.

Louis Naudé, Operations Director at Northern Security, confirmed that they received a distress call.

“When we received the signal we immediately called and the person explained that they are being attacked and that one of the petrol attendants is being assaulted. Four of our vehicles were sent to the scene, and as we arrived, the vehicle was leaving the premises. We blocked the vehicle and asked the occupants to get out of the car and we apprehended them. We called the police and two of the three men were arrested,” Naudé said.

The suspects, Hermanus van Dyk (36) and Danie le Roux (27), were released on R500 bail each and the case was postponed to 27 June.

One of the suspects has a suspended assault sentence.
