Protest action: N1 South and North open
The N1 south between the Pumulani Plaza and Carousel Plaza near Hammanskraal was closed to traffic this morning due to protests in the area.

According to Bakwena Platinum Corridor Concessionaire the N1 North and N1 South between Pumulani & Carousel plaza is open and safe to travel.

According to Bakwena Platinum the N1 southbound between Pumulani & Carousel Plaza’s has been opened and is declared safe to travel. The N1 northbound remains CLOSED.

NATIONAL – According to the security at the toll gate, the road has been closed due to protest action.
Protesters have broken the wall in Hammanskraal, and have burned cars, reported the police.
All lanes have been closed and motorists are forced to make U-turns. The R101 through Hammanskraal is also closed.
“The N1 Carousel Plaza north and south bound have been closed. Delays and diversions can be expected,” read a post on Bakwena Platinum Corridor Facebook Page.
Motorists traveling in that direction are urged to use alternative routes.
