Bojan Palic, a fatherly figure to many

Review spoke to Bojan Palic about his three different roles; as a soon-to-be father, as Christian Achievers Academy Principal and as a pastor.

POLOKWANE – When it comes to the concept of Father’s Day, people have different views on what makes a father.

As a pastor, Palic says he sees the day as an opportunity to honour spiritual fathers.

“We need to acknowledge fathers in our churches because they are making the way for the rest of us.”

“We as followers can never repay them, but by thanking them and appreciating what they do for us, we honour them,” he says.

As a school principal, Palic is challenged by the large number of children he needs to oversee.

“I am perceived as a father to the children at the school, but it needs to be a partnership between the parents and myself for the system to work.”

“As principal, I can only teach the children at school, the parents do their part of the teaching when the child is at home,” he explains.

As a father-to-be, he is very excited and also very scared.

“I think it is a scary thing because this is my own child. I am responsible for him or her. The learners go home after school but this one will be my responsibility around the clock.”

He says it is exciting that someone will call him their father and he looks forward to the journey.

His advice to other fathers-to-be is that they have a blank page to write on now.

“What you teach that child will determine their view and experience of life. Remember that a child is a gift from God.

“Following His commandments will help you make the best of every day. You can never be ready but you can be better prepared for the responsibility of being a father with His help,” Palic advises.
