Motoring, sound fans have a blast at BB Group Nissan Fun Day

The harsh weather conditions  could not keep Polokwane residents away from  the BB Group Nissan Fun Day that was held at the Silicon Road Go-cart Track on Saturday.

POLOKWANE – According to Charles Baker, the event organiser, around 600 people attended the first ever Nissan Fun Day. “The day was a success and I am glad residents came out in numbers to support us. We had electricity problems in the morning but we managed to get experts down to the track to solve them,” says Baker.

Fast cars, drifting and loud exhausts enthusiasts could not hide their excitement when drifters hit the tracks. Baker said BB Group and Valid Value sales people had a lot of answering to do at their exhibition stalls as people showed interest in buying the cars that were on display.

BB Group had Nissan and Renualt models on display while Valid Value revealed some of their affordable used vehicles on the day.

Attendees were given a chance to test drive some of the latest models. People had a variety of motors to choose from. Some of the attendees were spotted test driving the latest models such as the Nissan Qashqai, Navara, Renualt Kadjar and X-Trail among others.

Baker emphasised that BB Group Nissan is planning to host this fun day every three months. Dennis Palm, Cooper Drift Team representative, says the team did exceptionally well on the day and left people asking for more.

“We took a few people for a ride and they loved it. It was fun and we’re looking forward to more of these events. We thank BB Group for the opportunity given,” says Palm. He further said their aim is to create awareness and interest in like-minded children and adults alike and to grow the sport of drifting in Limpopo.

Sound enthusiasts were also given a slot to compete in the sound competition that was sanctioned by Teroy Sound. Mathew Ledwaba, Teroy Sound representative says the competition was a success. “We had 38 entrants and heard the power of a variety of sound systems on the day. Takalane was announced as the overall winner of the competition,” says Ledwaba.

He further said winners walked away with different prizes and trophies in the various sound categories that were put to the test on the day. According to Ledwaba, Teroy Sound is planning to host sound competitions more often to give sound freaks a platform to shine and reveal their best sound systems.

As for the 4×4 fans, there was a 4×4 mini track for attendees to test their vehicles’ competency.

There were jumping castles and other child-friendly activities to keep the kids busy while their parents participated in the other activities.
