Tampering of muni property leads to water shortage

Certain parts of Bendor and Welgelegen were without water for most of today (Friday) due to suspected vandalism of municipal water valves.

POLOKWANE – The problem started Thursday evening when residents reported low water pressure and by this morning, no water in certain areas where reported.

Matshidiso Mothapo,  Municipal Spokesperson, confirmed  that the valves were closed, which affected the water supply to parts Bendor and Welgelegen.

“The valves were not closed by the municipality, but by suspected vandals Mothapo said.

“Municipal officials are investigating the matter and valves will be soon be opened to restore water to the affected areas. We urge residents to refrain from tampering with municipal property, it is a big inconvenience to residents,” Mothapo said.

He also asks that resident report any suspicious act or movement of municipal property to the municipality or police.
