Netball players compete for top spot at trials

The u/12 and u/13 netball trials were recently held at Pietersburg High School (PHS), which saw players from all five districts of Limpopo competing for a spot on the national team.

Under 13 players wanted to prove themselves so they can play for the Limpopo National netball team.

POLOKWANE- According to Betty Phala, the Chairperson of the Limpopo Schools Netball, 20 players overall are to be chosen for the u/12 and u/13 national teams respectively.”We are going to choose talented players irrespective of colour. 50% of our players have to be white and the other 50% have to be black. This year we are going to be very strict because we want to win the gold medal,” she explained. Betty went on to explain that some of the player from the deep rural areas struggle with funding.

She says that she hopes that in future there will be a solution for this problem. The national tournament will take place from the 26th June to 2nd of July in Boksburg.
